Learn about our opportunities!
IpohMUN's inaugural conference was, to our knowledge, the only conference nationally to receive Programme Recognition from the Malaysian Ministry of Education. Specifically, the conference received recognition from the Perak State Education Department, given our public school participants were all from the same state of Perak at the time.* This was a proud achievement for us because the topic has long been a subject of national debate, as demonstrated in this news article. Even the most reputable international conferences usually struggle to gain government recognition, which is crucial for public school students as government-recognised events allow them to gain PAJSK (co-curricular) points. PAJSK points are crucial for admission into and scholarships for the top universities in Malaysia. You may view the official letter below.
In 2025, we decided that the existing process and requirements for government recognition were too restrictive, based on our prior experiences. As such, we chose not to pursue it and expanded our other accessibility offerings instead, which we are proud to report led to a roughly 800% increase in participation from public school students.
*We would go on to reach public schools from across the country in IpohMUN 2025.
