The 2nd Annual Session of Malaysia's First Community-Led Model United Nations Conference Will Commence Soon!

Dear delegates, partners, faculty, and whomever else this may interest,

It is an honor and a privilege that I get to welcome you all to the second iteration of Ipoh Model United Nations from Friday, April 4th, 2025 to Sunday, April 6th, 2025 at Ipoh, Perak. 

My name is Ronan Ooi, a 1st year at IGB International School studying the IB Diploma, and I am honoured to be serving as your Secretary-General for the second iteration of our conference. I have been participating in Model United Nations since 2019, and this activity means just as much for me now, after participating over twenty times, as it did during my first conference at the start of high school. Having also served as the founder of IpohMUN and Secretary-General of IpohMUN 2024,  IpohMUN has proven to be an integral part of my high school life as a student, where I have devoted my fullest efforts to allow the conference to reach its maximum potential. 

We intend to bring together hundreds of university and high school students filled with the vigour and drive to carve a difference in the future that we all share. Given our unique position as a Model United Nations conference posted outside the Klang Valley, we hope IpohMUN will serve as a platform for participants who may find it challenging to attend MUN conferences in the Klang Valley or internationally.

I am excited to expand upon the vision and goals for Ipoh Model United Nations to its maximum in this upcoming iteration. From expanding our conference size, improving the quality of the conference experience, and innovating unique offerings to our Model United Nations experience, my Secretariat and I are as determined as ever to allow the Second Session of Ipoh Model United Nations to be an unforgettable experience for all involved. 

The diversity and scale of the challenges that our world presently faces are unprecedented.  As such, the importance of global cooperation has never proved more vital to safeguard our futures and those who come after us. It is Ipoh Model United Nations’s mission to help prepare our delegates with the skills that they need to succeed, from public speaking and substantive research skills to leadership and diplomacy. In each delegate’s preparation for and participation in the conference, they will learn how to work with others to develop solutions for the world’s most pressing and complicated problems.

Ultimately, there is no better opportunity than the present to save our ever-tumultuous future, and that is a fate left in the actions and decisions of the leaders of tomorrow.
